Mdumbi is a place filled with rainbows and rolling hills.
At Vukani Backpackers you get a front row seat to the show. Vukani features a large wooden deck overlooking the Mdumbi river mouth and beach, which even comes equipped with an insanely comfortable hammock. While Vukani Backpackers is a wonderful place to kick back and relax, it is also full of activities. The Mdumbi river is at the doorstep and offers kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, hiking and swimming. The waves in and around Mdumbi are also nothing to joke about, with world class waves at any of the beaches in the area. Bay of Few is just around the corner and is a beautiful secluded beach perfect for lounging under the trees or casting a line. The beach is ducked off away from the wind in all directions, so perfect for those sunny yet windy afternoons.
Vukani Backpackers offers all different types of accommodations: Dorms, camping, double and single private rooms and even a family room with its own braai /Boma area. Vukani is also very family oriented with plenty of local kids to entertain the little ones, and pets to accompany yours. The Spargs family have been living on this land for generations and are more than happy to tell you plenty of stories about the area and its history. Vukani Backpackers opened its doors in 2008 when there were only two rondavels and a couple beds, the transformation and growth is astounding.
While Vukani Backpackers is still a completely self-catering accommodation, lucky for you there is a café right across the street. So after a long day of surfing and hiking, no need to stress dinner, the café even delivers!
Come join the Spargs family, the new management team, and the rainbows and rolling hills of Vukani Backpackers for some much needed R&R or days filled with activities, up to you. Adventure awaits.
